So... how optimistic was I thinking I could blog while backpacking? You'll find the answer hidden in the riddle of how many months its been since my last blog post. I think since May. Anybody out there still?

Um... so a quick catch up

I bleached my hair in a London Hostel bathroom while drunk and it turned a patchy orange. I had to get it fixed for 100 pounds, but they did a stand up job so I was stoked.
The rest of my 3 month European Adventure was the most amazing 3 months of my life and because of it, I've decided to learn German and hopefully Spanish eventually (starting at Sydney Uni next year), moving to Berlin in about 2014 and doing whatever there.
I will start blogging again despite being almost positive its evil. Together we'll work towards this not being a generic, boring, self indulgent lump of crap. I have stacks of photatoes to share so thats something.

I digress shortly to my Splendour pics, which I flew off to the day after I got back from Europe. Smiley face.

Josh and I arrived in London last night. I was mega tired and unable to fight jet lag so I ended up falling asleep at 5pm. We decided to get all the Touristy stuff out of the way today so we saw Buckingham, Big Ben, Westminister Abbey and the Thames. We would've walked at least 10km, it was awesome. I'm hoping all this exercise, plus lack of money for food will mean I'll lose heaps of weight over here.

Speaking of slight torture and lack of money, we made our way to Topshop today. It was actually dizzying. I took a couple of photos but they don't even go close to conveying the sheer scope of the mammoth 5 storey store. I got lost and got a headache trying to cover everything. I could have easily spent $500 but i refrained, telling myself to be sensible and think of things like "food" and "shelter". I ended up getting a pair of sunglasses and a glittery pink liquid eyeliner. There was this incredible dress for 60 pounds which I will consider for a couple of days and go back if I'm still lusting over it.

Travels Begin

Our 3 month journey has begun! Our first stop was Abu Dhabi, originally due to the thought that it was a cool idea to make the most of a stopover in a different country by staying overnight. It was a very uncool idea. Abu Dhabi is a shit hole. We were so keen to have an authentic Arabic country experience but its all modern and under construction and we walked fruitlessly for kilometers looking for anything remotely interesting. At least it was exercise. We ended up spending most of the day in the westernised Abu Dhabi mall and in our room watching terrible movies.

The couple of interesting buildings that I photographed were obviously the slums, they had satellite cables coming from the roof into the windows of the apartments. It was really eye opening walking around in a muslim country too.

GARAGE SALE!!

Due to our completely unsuccessful venture to Gelebe markets last weekend, that is we got up at 5 am after 3 hours sleep, waited on line for 30 minutes to go on the "stand by" stall list, then waited 2 hours for all the regulars to show up and then told that we most likely wont get a stall spot because it was "unusually busy". Gee thanks, how about you implement some sort of "internet" booking system like every other market that exists. I know its crazy but hey, its a crazy, technologically advanced world these days.

Anyway, Josh and I decided to just have a Garage Sale from 9am - 12pm on Saturday 24/4. It will be in Gymea Bay, Sydney. If you want the exact address, please email me at graacee_@hotmail.com.
Please do, I dont bite :) It'll be heaps chilled, we'll probably be drinking (I have a Pool Rave and a 21st that afternoon) and I'd love to see you there!

It will be Guys and girls Vintage clothing and sunglasses, both our market stuff and things we didnt get a chance to list on ebay. Massive bargains, cheap enough to buy for resale even. We leave for Europe the next day so it will be of much more use to us in cash form than its sitting in our garage form.

I splurged on this Velvet blazer ages ago and I've had to wait til it was cold enough to wear it. They pop up on ebay from time to time, usually priced at between $250 - $400 but I picked this one up for a measly $50. It has these amazing Fox Fur shoulders. Mmm.

Anyway as I was leading up to in my last 2 posts, I bleached and dyed my tips yesterday. Apart from cutting 2 ft of hair off a few months ago it is the only interesting thing I've ever dared to do with my hair. I always think that hair trends are fleeting and none more so than this, (although does anyone remember when mullets were cool? Seriously, there was a time. Right when skinny jeans were coming in. So glad I didnt give into that one). I really like the look of it though, plus it gives me a new look to play with since I cant spend any money on new clothes, I'll just make my old ones look slightly different. I'd love to do my whole head this colour but I wanted to test out the damage the bleach does to the easily cut-offable ends first.

If anyone wants to know I used Manic Panic flash lightening bleach and Manic Panic dye. Good stuff.

The Kaiser Chiefs Djed at Purple Sneakers on Thursday night. To be honest, I dont remember them or anything much from the night. The guy at the door found my Vodka Redbull in my bag and I had to go into an alleyway and basically scull my remaining 6 drinks in 20 minutes. It gave us the opportunity to take some snaps though. A cool alleyway is rare in Sydney. I know Melbourne has them everywhere but Sydney, not so much.

I hairsprayed my tips pink for the night but the effect wasnt outstanding. It was kid of a test run for my Easter Sunday bleachfest.

The markets on Saturday were a great success, thank you so much to everyone who came down and found something.

I said to Josh during the day that I'd never seen such a high contingency of beautiful girls in one place before. I felt really inspired sitting there all day watching everyone. Though, there is a definite element of suckiness seeing an immaculately dressed girl picking up something of yours and making it look amazing by just holding it up to themselves.

The guy on the end was the most pimpin' guy there.

I also officially saw the most breathtaking girl ever. I dont gasp much / ever when I see people due to where I live, so it was a real treat to be blown away by the look of someone. She had really short baby pink hair, white round sunnies and this draped short grey cape thing on with ankle boots. I just wanted to stare at her like a creep. She came into the stall at one point and I was going to tell her but she was on her mobile. I'm a firm believer in giving compliments if you think them. To everyone. To strangers. If you think it and its going to uplift someone, say it. Imagine if everyone did that? Anyway, this girl inspired me to stop being a pussy and finally do my hair the way I've been wanting to so more to come next post.

These are pictures from our last stall and the one we'll be having this time will be at least 5 times bigger and better because we're leaving for Europe in 3 weeks and EVERYTHING WE'VE GOT IN STORAGE MUST SELL! Josh and I took advantage of our day off today and he took me to this secluded little rock pool he was raving about last week (it was okay). There were a whole bunch of little purple jelly fish which were pretty awesome. We took some photos and went and got a sandwich. Joshes was called the "Hens Christian Alfalfasan". We thought that was funny.

I'm sure you've all been distressed about my lack of blog action, but thankfully my camera is back from repair and I'm up and running again. I have to say, the service at Canon was awesome. I was quoted up to 6 weeks to fix a couple of errors and I got it back in 7 days. Which is so necessary since I'm desperate to have stuff up on ebay for the next 4 weeks until I depart to Europe, I am so low on funds and want to get everything into hands of new owners before I leave.

So, whats new? Absolutely nothing. Turbans are my new favourite greasy hair remedy, this dress (salvos $6) is my new favourite anything and it is still way too hot in Sydney to wear anything very interesting.

Just another quick question for seasoned Europe travellers (I got some amazing tips last time I asked) - where in Germany is good to visit apart from Berlin? We're really interested in both
Historical and fun places to go, so any advice?

It was my Nan's 70th this weekend and my mum organised a surprise family gathering down the coast. Josh and I drove down in his new $400 car (it will get a post on its own soon) and we all stayed in caravan park cabins with awesome views. Apologies for lack of fashion related content, apart from the boots tacked on the end. Josh and I did a big sweep of South Coast Salvos and I managed to accrue a garbage bag full of goodies, but these Miu Miu shaped suede ankle boots were by far the most heart-stopping find. I believe I said aloud when I spotted them "If these don't fit me I will literally kill myself", I read the base: 6 1/2. I am a 8 1/2 usually. But I took out the insole-y things and they managed to squeeze on with surprisingly little discomfort all things considered... perhaps they're a big make? I've been wearing them in toe-numbing 30 minute intervals around the house to stretch them out a bit. I hear wet newspaper also works a treat. Anyway, that was my weekend. Gosh my posts are starting to sound like slightly more verbose Year 1 journal entries with every passing day. "Today I did this. The cat jumped over the mat. I love my cat. The end."

Josh bought me my little piece of Christopher Kane for my birthday last year and last night was the first time I properly wore it out. I dont really know why its taken me so long. My Turban thing was a product of my greasy hair but I really liked how it looked in the end.

Currently watching the Oscars. I dont think I've ever mentioned it before but I'm really into films. Josh works at the cinemas so we get free movies all the time and usually see 1 - 3 a week. We saw A Single Man and the Hurt Locker this week - I highly recommend both. Tonight I'm really rooting for Carey Mulligan to win best actress but I dont think its going to happen.

My grade's 21st season officially kicked off this weeked with a killer Disney theme. I went as Cruella DeVil in Josh's grandmothers old Arctic Fox Fur Coat which was bought in the 60s for $3000 and worn once. That would be over $20,000 today. Holy crap. Anyway it was absolutely boiling and weighs 6 kgs so I didnt wear it for long.

Disney was such an awesome theme. These are just my favourite photos from the evening. I hope everyone had a good weekend :)

Nothing much to say today. I havent been up to much, expecially nothing to do with clothing because I'm saving for Europe - leaving in 8 weeks. Although, I was kind of naughty on ebay this week and made a 'best offer' on an awesome vintage DKNY neoprene dress and the seller unexpectedly accepted it, so now I owe her $70 and probably need to lose a couple of kilos before hoping to squeeze into a size 4, hot pink, wetsuit dress.

Speaking of Europe, any tips? Hostels?... Places to visit? Josh and I are doing Eurail for 3 months so we can go just about anywhere and everywhere. We're currently the most disorganised travellers ever and have booked nothing but our flights, so I'm all ears to suggestions.

My ebay store is finally up and running again! Josh and I have hated the old name pretty much since we thought of it but were too uncreative and lazy to think of anything else so it stayed for over 2 years, up until last week. I wasnt really keen on having the store the same name as my blog since they are totally unrelated but like I said, uncreative and lazy.

I really want a no frills kind of approach to vintage. I hate these pretentious, whimsical mission statements that these home-run ebay stores have like "hand picked, exclusive vintage styling". Lame. I just sell really awesome stuff I find but cant afford to keep myself because I'm so poor and my room is too full. Josh and I revamped, or under-vamped the store this week and from now on its no frills, no bull shit, just cute second hand clothes.

The late 1990s, early 2000s were truly the years fashion forgot, yet lately I find myself so attracted to the hideous monstrocities birthed in the era. Like, so attracted. Take this 90s missoni-esque monstrocity. Theres more than a hint of 10 things I hate about you in there, which I know is uber cool right now, but for me its just amusingly ironic wearing clothes that 2 years ago I swore were banished to the horrid archives of '98. Yesterday at Salvos I was considering buying one of those Supre frangipani tube dresses (you remember the ones) for $6 until I gathered composure and simply agreed to myself that it was too soon, although now I'm wishing I'd bought it. I did however pick up a pair of mid-heel height (shudder), pointed toe, lace up, baby pink combat boots which when I first saw them I literally laughed out loud in disgust but then I realised I was just gleeful at the fact that I had just hit the jackpot in all things ugly. I cant wait to show you them.

I'm wearing second hand bustier, shorts, bag hat and vintage sunnies from Etsy.

Hot weather is the enemy of looking good. It was around 36 degrees on Monday when Josh and I went for a nice opshop and I find it so miserable to dress myself when its anywhere over 28. I always turn out much more florally than I'd usually permit. Sweat aside, we had a really good run. As you can see I found these amazing Cat Eye Glasses for $15 at Salvos. I'm not usually a fan of the clear lense look but I kind of dig the effect of these. I'm picturing them with my half pink hair, 1989 Batman T shirt, pleated skirt and some dowdy boots. Delish. At Vinnes some sweet necklaces - although I think my (Christian) mum mistook the cross for a renewed interest in God rather than my intended gothic irony. I suppose when she sees them teamed with a pantagram she'll get the picture?*

*Just joking, I could never get into Pentagrams. For starters my mum only lets me bring home dreamcatchers if they stay confined to my bedroom (otherwise they could curse the rest of the house). And, after years of childhood indoctrination, I have much too much residual Christan guilt.

There was promise of a local dubstep night last night - emphasis on the word promise. After an extortionate $20 cover charge we unfortunately discovered that the sweet dubstep beats were sparcely sprinkled in between mediocre DJ sets. The company was good though, so I had a really fun night.

I decided to dress in theme with the dubstep (kind of dirty electro) and it was the most fun I've had in an outfit in forever. The mesh hoodie is something I've had in my wardrobe for ages and after a few quick skulls of vodka redbull I had the confidence to wear it on my head all night. The Tasmanian Devil kids hat I picked up at Vinnies yesterday for $2 - coolest hat ever? It has a mouth! It made its way around the dancefloor, its magical debstep powers entrancing all in its path. The mini-photo shoot in Joshes room took place at 5am, do we know how to party or what?! Only joking. But seriously.

I'm having a total identity crisis. This explains my lack of blogging. That and the fact that I never remember to take pictures of myself/my outfits when I venture out of the house and I dont feel like subjecting my few readers to blog posts solely containing pictures of the sky.

Back to the identity crisis. I live in an absolute shit hole. Its such a shit hole that I cant even tell you where it is, its so embarrassing. I want to move, all my problems would evaporate and I can envisage my life being absolutely perfect living in a little sharehouse/townhouse in Enmore or Summer Hill. Its like looking at an unobtainable parallel universe. Ultra depressing. What does where you live have to do with an identity crisis you ask? Well, for starters, I am so uninspired. I am uninspired by the people here, the lack of interestingness and any form of intelligent culture, I am uninspired to be myself (for fear of antagonism and just because, why bother when both a. no one gets it and b. no one cares). I feel like because I've surrounded myself with this shit for the last 2 years I've lost myself and any talent/knack I once thought I had for fashion or style, which is problematic for me since its the field I aim to work in and I was relying on building up any natural talent I may or may not have had in order to begin a long and fruitful career. I now have nothing bust contempt and confusion when it comes to fashion. I dont know how I want to look, I dont know if I like studs, I dont know if I like girlieness or hippieness or strong shoulders, I dont know if I like lace or the avant garde or the understated effortless look. What the fuck do I like? I have no idea.

I feel like my life is at a bit of a turning point. Its basically in a shambles right now and I have resolved to pull myself out of it when I get back from holidays next week. I've made a list and everything. By December this year I'm hoping to find somewhere awesome to rent and be gone of this bogan-filled hick town once and for all! I will have a sun drenched outdoor dining area and a blank white wall for blog photo taking and a big room for all my shit. It will be bliss! In the meantime, I have diagnosed that I am falling apart fashionably and need resucitation.

P.S One of my resolutions is to stop musing like a pretentious jack ass on here and just rant from the heart. I've always tried doing that but it just comes out like meaningless drivel. Its my blog after all and I'll treat it like a diary if I want. I dont know if anyone is still reading, but if so, thank you.

Went for a little bushwalk yesterday (in the suburbs). Thought I should post these despite the odd kneeling poses and general unsightly-ness of my barely makeupped face. I just really like the lighting at sunset / twilight (the time of day, not the book, although I'm also quite partial to some Edward). I bought this headband yesterday because I felt like wasting $5 at Equip. Sometimes I buy things just because when you look kind of grungy and "gothic" shopkeepers tend to squirm and send their staff to follow you around when you enter a store, and then I feel obligated to buy something to prove my innocence. I just realised I did that, how sad and sociopathic. Must make a mental note to stop doing that.

In accordance with my New Years resolution to spend money more wisely (i.e try my hand at buying more expensive "investment" pieces rather than lots of little things) I just decided to spend my last $175 in my bank account on these three peices from the awesome sale on MyCatwalk.com. Sounding really wise? Yeah, I thought so too, but I just couldnt resist. These three were 80% off.

I've been searching laboriously for a dress like this for months and the other day I found this one sitting hidden on a rack in my room. It was a product of my only ever shopping expedition in Melbourne, I got it from Retrostar about two years ago and it was basically the only thing I bought on the entire trip. I think its pretty sweet. Different to the 80s/90s pieces I've been involuntarily gravitating towards lately.

I'm feeling a little depressed and a whole lot uninspired lately, so I apologise if thats come across in my blogging. I was going to do a Christmas wish list post but I was scared my boyfriend would see it and buy me things on it that he cant afford. Instead I chose to show you some of my humble collection of sequin pieces. Sequins are my favourite of all embellishments, a very close second comes origami shapes, 3D details (like rosettes), sculpted pleats, tulle and sheerness in the right places. I think it may be the 11 years of Ballet thats done this to my fashion tastes forever.

I had a little bit of a lightening bolt moment a couple of months ago when I saw Ashish's latest offerings from London. It was that too much is never enough when it comes to sequins. Up until that moment I had put a bit of a stop on myself from collecting sequins, despite loving them and wearing them often, they do not come cheap and I felt I had enough for the time being. How wrong I was! Many of these pieces, including all leopard spotted sequins were all accquired since this aforementioned lightening bolt moment and I cant imagine not having them in my wardrobe. Well I can, but its a bleak picture.

My favourite would have to be the top Cache number and the batwing leopard dress (an absolute heart stopping steal for $20).

Pictured are the cute little decorations they blu-tacked all around the dining room walls, the amazing chocolate mousse cake I ate 3 pieces of and an twilight stroll Josh and I took. Also pictured are my presents, I was delighted to open up the paper and find 2 pairs of novelty sunglasses and an inflatable back pack, which was meant to be kind of a joke present. Ironically, I collect novelty eye wear and Sydney runs low on supply, so it may be the best present ever.

I found this dress at salvos the other day; its this rich scarlett colour with a super deep neckline and thigh high splits (since, which I wrote about last I have totally come to love). The vest is new, it arrived this week after an ridiculously long, month wait from ebay. I bought one in black and one in cream, which isnt something I usually do but I've literally wanted one for 18 months and I finally found one the right length and shape and price so I bought two. I think I'll get heaps of wear out of them in Winter.

This kimono is probably one of my most worn and most loved items in my wardrobe, if not my favourite. I found it around 3 years ago for $8. Its 100% silk, made in Japan, and its just the most stunning, comfortable thing I own.

I wore it last night to Darling Harbour, dinner at Hurricanes with a group of friends and apple mojitos after (I didnt partake in the mojitos, I carry my own vodka everywhere, you can see it poking out of my bag there).

As you can see as well, my blog had a tiny little makeover in order to make it a bit more accessible. If you're a reader, I'd so love you to follow me or to hear from you. I get lonely on here sometimes. I know I dont allow anonymous comments (I'm sensitive and any unprovoked negativity gets me down), but we can still be friends. Unlike most people it seems these days; I love Christmas. I love the full social calender, stressing about gifts, the promises of baked ham and spending much more than you promised yourself you would. This year its shaping up to be a fabulous Christmas. I think I've been drunk 4 of the last 7 nights and driving the other 3, which still means social interaction.

The night before last my friend opened up his house for a festive Barbeque. A messy night which involved all the elements of a good house party; a walk on the beach with the girls, a huge salad, Texas Hold 'em (I came second) and makeshift youtube karaoke (My Chemical Romance). Unfortunately after most left, including myself, the night took a turn to inflatable-paddles-silly-string-and-baseball-bats-being-weilded town.

This is just antoher visual diary type post, (which most of mine are and always have been, however I count them as more diary-like when they're in consectutive order). Just a plain outfit too, a couple of old things I found lying around, plus my favourite hat and new favourite boots.

I bought these ridiculously epic / novel platforms last week off ebay. For some reason when I spotted them on my daily rummaging I was attracted to them and couldn't quite figure out why. Upon first glance they just look like dangerous stripper shoes, but I think the huge exaggeration of the platform makes them look somewhat Ricci-ish. Admittedly my depth perception was much askew on my practise trot around the house, I think because they arent particularly high, rather they just add 3 inches to my soles, so nothing feels any different than normal. However, my very graphic outerbody visions of me faceplanting in the middle of somewhere busy, particularly on gravel is enough to put me off wearing them for a while, especially when alcohol is to be involved too.

I went to see Animal Collective at the Enmore on Friday night, it was pretty amazing. This is kind of just a visual diary of my night, I didnt get many good photos unfortunately.

I wore black lipstick for the first time the other night. It kind of disfigures the face a bit, definitley not typically "pretty", but I absolutely love the look of it. I just bought a crappy $5 one off ebay and it does the job ok. Speaking of ebay and $5, the mesh Tee dress I'm wearing was also another bargain purchase that I am living in at the moment. Its perfect; the length, the cut, the scratchy, sheer net. Yeah, its my favourite.

It was my cousins 3rd Birthday this weekend and at my aunty's request, my present to her was to bring my camera. I'm really starting to love photography. I know its a really commonplace hobby nowadays but I've begun to develop a real passion for it, I think because my camera takes such a nice photo with minimal input from myself.

I dont usually dress like this, but it was a 3 year olds birthday so I was feeling childlike. I picked the polka dot dress up from Surry Hills markets this weekend too. It was in the busiest stall there; everything $10. I forgot to say in my markets post that Surry Hills is held the first saturday of every month and its on Crown st.

Wearing vintage 90s formal dress, vintage boots, hat, bag, bracelets.

I had my first ever Surry Hills Markets visit this Saturday and it was one of the best days I've had in ages. Easily the most recommendable markets in Syndey, heaps of good, quality, vintage at really reasonable prices. . I wanted to show you a couple of things I picked up, a Rabbit fur patchwork coat for $10 (which, the awesome lady told me, if I didnt buy was going to give it to her cats) and a pair of worn old heavy creepers for $20. Also a bargain.

I also visited the Romance Was Born pop up store (2a Glenmore Rd Paddington if anyone was interested) and had a little gasp seeing Luke Sales manning the register. Romance Was Born has been my favourite Australian brand since their first collection, I'm like an annoying indie kid when it comes to claiming my original fandom.

On an outfit related note, I found this dress a couple of weeks ago in Salvos, its this gorgeous silky 90s formal dress with a sheer longer layer. Good find.

Here are a couple of snaps from the worst festival ever that I recommend no one ever buys tickets to; Stereosonic. In a nutshell, the only 2 acts I went to see, the biggest draw cards of the day, put in the smallest hall and was "at capacity" two hours before their set time and no one could get in. Poor organisation? I think so. If I could be bothered finding out who to demand a refund from, I would. The company was good though (my friends, not the shirtless, sweaty, southern-cross tattooed general public).

My friend threw an amazing warehouse party on Saturday night which I'm still unfortunately recovering from. If you hadnt got the inkling from my previous hangover complaints, my body hates alcohol the day after I drink lots of it. Like really hates it. More than anyone elses body I've ever met. However this 48hour vom fest is not only an injustice to my health, but also my time I could've spent being productive. So I'm imposing a new 6 drink limit rule, which I know you're all fascinated by.

On a less boring note, the little ebay store I mentioned, Closet groceries, (Visit their blog here) lists some sick stuff at really good prices. I nabbed these for a Buy-It-Now of $32. Excellent Purchase. You've got to be fast though, her stuff goes quick.

I realised today that I was yet to post any photographs of my bedroom on this blog... it is most likely my most tangible and credible display any fashion cred I may have and I'm yet to share. I cleaned it today so this is what it looks like at its best. I am officially out of room, aside from the odd cram here and there so I'll be culling more and more onto ebay soon enough.

Just about everything is vintage. I've been collecting since year 7, so, nine years. I'm a collector and hoarder, an example to demonstrate my hoarding nature; I found a box of rocks today whilst cleaning, which have no doubt been in my room for over 10 years - and I clean out all the junk in my room about 3 times a year. This means this box of rocks has passed over 30 'ruthless' cullings of junk.... actually I kept them again. They're very pretty rocks. I also have a box of train tickets from 2003-05. Why cant I throw them out? I may miss them. I did, however, part with all my old pay slips today so well done me.

Wearing vintage sheer overshirt, dress, boots and bag.

I went to Newtown and Paddington today for a little lunch and browse around, and, awesomely, the only money I spent was on petrol (due to perhaps or perhaps not splurging way too much on ebay lately). I seriously think I may have have a shopping compulsion... Like I need to buy new stuff constantly for my emotional wellbeing. But I think I'll choose to confront this problem when it does become a serious issue and not just a major inconvenience to my bank account. Why do something today that you can do tomorrow? Thats how it goes, doesnt it? Nah only joking I know its the opposite way around.

I tried on some complex geometries at Somedays (definite purchase on the horizon) but the highlight of my day was the Ksubi store. I always get some really good ideas for DIY's and today I tried on some of their 2010 eyewear range. They are so freaken awesome. I have my heart set on the matt clear pair on the bottom right. But $289 for a pair of sunnies for a person who literally has over 150 pairs of sunglasses seems ludicrous and the very thought offends me... Christmas is on its way though...

Here is a totally incohesive collection of images from my day today. Josh and I celebrated him getting his license back with a huge Op Shop run, from which we returned with many bags of goodies. The pictures were taken at Decolata in Summer Hill, maybe the best little cafe in the world. Their combination of pear, parmesan and panchetta are the best freaken panini fillings ever thought of. I cut my hair shorter again yesterday too. Its a bit too short for my liking but it'll grow.

I like taking pictures of the sky in case no one had noticed. There was a thunderstorm this afternoon.

Apologies for the lack of posting lately, the conundrum that is car-less-ness seems to be negatively affecting every facet of my life. It basically means I cant get anywhere, which means I dont dress myself properly or have any interesting backdrops for photos which means no blog posts. This also means feeling like crap most of the time, like a big, fat sloth, including now, 3am, still awake for some reason, browsing ebay aimlessly for something to buy with money I dont have.
But Josh gets his license back on Thursday (yay!) so posting should pick up from then on.

I cut all my hair off today. Not all obviously but more than a foot of it. I've been contemplating it for the last month and after an almost sleepless night last night I woke up resolute that today would be the day. Anyone who could have possibly heard my last four days' internal monologue tossing back and forth over whether or not to cut it would have been intensly disturbed by my vanity, I assure you.

I havent cut my hair short in 7 years, so this is huge for me. It hasn't quite sunk in yet, and I'm thinking when it does there may be a few tears, despite my resolute-ness.

I must stop buying junk...*

I've just started to become greatly plagued by the investment vs. junk dilemma.

The investment vs. junk dilemma, for all those unfamiliar, is the choice between buying, say, 1 thing for $300 or 30 things for $300.

The former choice is obviously the expensive piece that defies seasonal trends and earns its worth by the amount of times you wear it.

The latter choice will obviously please compulsive shoppers / people who need new stuff all the time / people who like to experiment with fun cheap stuff / people who genuinely derive joy from $10 purchases / people who only wear things once / people who can find amazing things for $10. All of those slashes apply to me.

However, in the failing Sydney opshop climate and the ever more competitive ebay one, its getting harder, and more expensive to be a junk gal. I'm finding my frequent formerly-$10 purchases turning into $30, $50, $100 each and its bankrupting me. Not only this, but due to being literally unable to find impressive cheap things, I find myself lusting after designer pieces that I really cannot afford and talking myself into purchasing them, labelling them "investments".

I'm a funny person. For my birthday, my beautiful boyfriend bought me the Christopher Kane Gorilla shirt. This was pre everyone-else-having-it, not that I can prove it, because I wasn't invited to London fashion week on my birthday, but it was and I had a million outfits picked out to wear with it. This thing cost a freaken fortune. And do you know how many times I've worn it... Twice. Once to Bondi for Lunch and in the car on the way to Splendour.

My latest obsession is the TV perforated maxi dress (think Trix from blade runner in a maxi version) which I'm envisaging wearing to the beach, to get coffee, to go shopping, to go out. Its $370. I so cant afford it. And judging by my past offences, I wont wear it enough to justify its purchase, but it burrowed into my brain and made itself a nice nest.

But you know, how do I know I'm not going to wear it? I might. All the time. And it may just be one of those dresses I'm still wearing next year, and when I get an awesome job in fashion and when I'm 45. Its awesome, I love it, why not?

I couldn't tell you the number of things that were on my shopping list LITERALLY 3 YEARS ago and I never bought because they weren't worth the investment. Things I could've been wearing for 3 years, and still haven't bought and now also refuse to out of sheer annoyance. Like a freaken mongolian vest and an ostrich feather jacket! ARRGH!

My long winded and poorly explained point is... how do we know when something will be an investment? I'm not a magic fortune teller. I might think I'll love it til the day I die and then General Pants makes a generic copy of it and I end up hating it through no fault of my own. But then again, I might have the miraculous impulse to buy something special.

I guess it may all just come down to instinct. And I'm a big coward.

I'm wearing vintage bustier, sheer shirt, finge jacket, leather shorts, gumboots and sunglasses. Josh wears his vintage studded leather jacket which I stole for a short period of time.

These are my happy snaps from Parklife. I had the best day despite the iffy weather and overall poor sound quality of the outdoor setup. I enjoyed myself so much mostly because I got to see so many people I hadnt seen in ages and spend the whole day with my old friends and made many new ones (I mean this in an ironic, cheesy way) . And I wasn't sick today - bonus.

How good is the guys peacock headdress in the last photo? What a pimp?! I didnt get to ask him about it though, he was just making his way through. My outfit is just a culmination of what to wear last minute when your hair is going to go frizzy due to humidity dsepite all efforts so you might as well wrap it up.

Just a couple of cool pictures I took at my friends awesome warehouse where we watched Full Metal Jacket last night. It was my first Kubrick experience. I was impressed.

The first one is self explanatory. Its a pretty butterfly in the light of a projector.
The second is this cool necklace my grandparents bought for me in a foreign country (I cant remember which... I'm thinking... Peru?) anyway its a piece of rice with my name painted on it. So awesome. I found it a couple of months ago and Josh has been wearing it around. Its not a sickening display of love or anything (although I like to pretend it is), he just thinks it looks cool.

These are my faves from London Fashion Week. I've been feeling pretty uninspired by recent trends and these collections have somewhat restored my faith in fashion.

Ashish just kills me. This collection was based on an Around the World Cruise, cool huh? If I had the money I would buy every single piece.

I think House of Holland is really fun. I love his sheer dresses with the panels that cover up nudey bits. It reminds me of a fun version of a 80s predicted future.

And Jeremy Scott is just awesome. "Almost too novel" as josh put it, but I think the Flinstones inspiration is fresh and fun. Especially the furry dresses. mmmm.

I get so many packages that most days I can only guess whats going to be inside, its like opening presents. Especially the impulse "buy-it-nows" I forget about. This one is special because its the first time I've ever seen someone send something from overseas using only stamps. Bugs Bunny stamps to be precise. It looked so awesome I had to photograph it....then the packaging is so cool I want a dress made out of it.... And then I thought I should show you the dress too. I already have an identical one in Yellow, but yellow looks terrible with my skin so its obviously a smart move to buy it in white also, no?

Feather Sole Ksubi, Bustier, neoprene pants and blazer is vintage.

I bought this feather scarf from Ksubi expressly for Splendour after having my heart set on the white Cabaret tee ($399) and this was on sale for $199 and its way more versatile. I know thats pricey but I had my perfect outfit in mind and I wasnt budging. I also had good cash flow, now, not so good.

This was my Splendour outfit Day 1. I've never been so happy with any purchase as I have been with these shorts. I found them on etsy a week before the festival and they miraculously arrived in 4 business days from France. Lucky! They do show a little too much booty than Im used to but a few vodka & apples'll fix that. I'll be wearing them all Summer.

Luckily, instead I found this; I really love the texture of it, it looks a little like human hair and its really warm. I've had one of those weekends.

Last night after hopping in a cab and re-arranging my bag as to make less visible my huge bottles of booze I noticed my wallet was missing. Following this realisation was a sharp U-turn back to Joshes to search, a decision that I would have to go back to my house because its obviously there. Halfway back to mine I figure it could be in my car (thats parked back at Joshes), another sharp U tun ensues, I search my car, its not there. Back to mine. Its on my bed (why??). Then onwards to our destination. What should have been a 5 minute trip down the road was a $70 cab fare.

Then today my car key broke off in the driver door. Hungover, another 90 minute long round trip to mine to get the spare key ensued.

On the upside, I did install the Farm Town app on Facebook and have wiled away the majority of my weekend with this.

For Josh's birthday we stayed in the Shangri-La in Sydney. The view was beautiful, mostly due to the fact we were right over the Rocks which really fascinate me. I get this really haunted, eerie feeling when I go there.

I dont usually draw attention to these things, but I really apologise for my ugliness. I do my best to try and choose the least grotesque photos of myself, but it seems to shine through one way or another.
My face and I are going through some stuff at the moment....mostly because its always like "but I want to look bloated and sallow all the time" and I'm like "Please, can you just not?" and its like "Nah."

As some of you may or may not have noticed, RLYL I recently dropped off the blogosphere without warning, and no, I didn't become an uber pretentious freak who only allowed certain people to view it, I disabled viewing altogether because I woke up one morning and came to the rather humbling realisation that it wasn't something I was proud to put my name to.

With hope, RLYL II will not disappoint me (or you) this way. I do feel like I have something to contribute to this crazy superfluous world of the fashion blog and I will do my darnedest this time to present it in a more tightly edited, aesthetically pleasing manner.
